About Onsera Health
Onsera Health is a physician-led metabolic health and weight management program designed for eligible members through their employer or health plan.
The program combines clinical care, personalized coaching, nutrition support, and, when clinically appropriate, prescription medications to help participants achieve sustainable health outcomes.
Who Is Onsera For?
The Onsera program is available only to eligible employees and covered dependents whose employer or health plan offers the benefit.
Eligibility and enrollment are managed directly through Onsera Health.
The Onsera Participant Journey
Participants complete their entire care journey through Onsera Health, including:
- Eligibility verification
- Clinical intake and health assessment
- Visits with licensed Onsera medical providers
- Personalized treatment plan
- Ongoing support from physicians, registered dietitians, and health coaches
- Medication management (when clinically appropriate)
- Continuous engagement through the Onsera app
Medication Prescribing
If medication is clinically appropriate, it is prescribed by an Onsera licensed medical provider following a clinical evaluation.
Receiving Your Medication
How you receive your medication depends on how your employer has designed its Onsera benefit.
If medication is clinically appropriate and prescribed by your Onsera provider, you'll receive it through one of two ways based on your employer's program.
Don't worry—you won't have to figure it out on your own. The Onsera app will clearly guide you through the process and tell you exactly what to do to receive your prescription.
Option 1: Home Delivery
If your employer's benefit includes direct medication fulfillment, your prescription will be shipped directly to your home.
Your Onsera care team will coordinate the process, and you'll receive updates through the Onsera app so you know what to expect.
Option 2: Through Your Pharmacy Benefit
If your employer provides medication through its existing pharmacy benefit, your prescription will work like any other prescription you've filled before.
How it works
- You select your preferred pharmacy during onboarding.
During app onboarding, you’ll choose a preferred pharmacy from your plan’s network. You’ll be able to see the full list of pharmacies available to you. - Your provider writes your prescription.
After your visit, if your provider determines a GLP-1 is appropriate for you, they will prescribe the medication that's right for your clinical needs. - We send it electronically.
Your prescription is sent directly to the pharmacy you selected - You can track it in the app.
Once your prescription has been sent, you'll see a confirmation in the Onsera app showing where it was sent. - Pick up your medication.
Your pharmacy will notify you when your prescription is ready for pickup. Any copay or cost share is determined by your employer's pharmacy benefit. - Let us know you received it.
Confirm pickup in the app so your care team knows you've started treatment.
A Few Things to Expect (Pharmacy Benefit Only)
- Your plan may require prior authorization. If it does, your Onsera provider will submit it on your behalf
- Your plan determines which medications are covered. If your first-choice medication isn't covered, your provider will work with you to identify an appropriate alternative.
- Coverage and cost questions should go to your plan or pharmacy. Because your medication is billed through your pharmacy benefit, your health plan or pharmacy is the best source for questions about copays and coverage.
